Where it all began
Back in 2009, our founder Tom Sterne fell in love with luxury camping whilst living in Kenya. He felt there was a huge gap in the market in his home county of Yorkshire for this alternative way to holiday. After staying in various structures, Tom discovered a huge range of benefits of living in round spaces.
Inspired to create a truly luxurious glamping site, a place that others could share with their family, get back to nature and experience the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.
Putting the glorious in glamping
At Yurtshire we want to recreate that feeling of escaping to somewhere special and unique, reinstate some of that childhood curiosity, the feeling of running through the trees to discover some new, exciting destination and adventures.
Over the years, we’ve listened to our guests and continued to invest in our sites to provide all the necessities expected of a luxury glamping site. All our yurts have double beds, en-suite bathrooms, private decking areas with their own private hot tub. “We always knew that we wanted to provide added luxuries for our guests, but where possible we always try to stick to our green ethos”, Tom explains. That’s when the idea of adding a wood-burning hot tub presented itself as these are better for the environment”.
Now it’s more than glorious glamping
Seven years later, we’ve opened a brand new site, which is the height of luxury! Hidden amongst a wooded valley on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, guests will discover our famous Tree-Yurts. From having food hampers delivered to your yurt, unwinding with a massage from our spa therapist or relaxing in our woodland sauna, these are just a few of the added luxuries you can come to expect when staying at our new site, Eavestone Lake. Yurtshire.

Our friendly team will be on hand throughout your journey with Yurtshire, whether that’s from the first email or phone call you make or meeting and greeting you on arrival. Simply arrive, pull into the car park and let us take care of the rest. We are a small, but large hearted team and caring for our guests is at the forefront of what we do.
